The celestial beings in the Form Realm are joyful, their joy is not something external, it outflows from his heart, which is called joy. The joy of Chan nourishes the body, without the need for external materials. So diet can be cut off, sleep can be cut off. These are due to joy of Chan. However, he has lifespan. But though the life span is long, when it comes to an end, the body will be destructed, and so will the palace.
He feel suffering, which is the suffering of destruction. He has the suffering of destruction (suffering from loss of happiness), and has the suffering of action (the suffering of impermanence and endless process), but no suffering of hardship(the physical and mental hardship in lifetime).
There are 28 levels of heaven. There are 18 levels in the Form Realm. The top 4 levels is the Formless Realm Heaven. This celestial being is very intelligent. He doesn't need a body, he has no form, no palace, so he has no suffering of destruction.
But he has suffering of action. Though his is long lived, there is still an end. He is not immortal. So he still has the suffering of action.
There are 3 kinds of suffering in the desire realm; the form realm has 2 kinds; the formless realm has one kind.

Therefore, the Buddha said all the 3 realms are suffering. The houses are on fire in the Three Realms, a metaphor in the Lotus Sutra.
After we understand this, we need to learn. In Buddhist, we call it practice. How? Try to reduce one's own desires, that will reduce your suffering of hardship. That is something we can do.
Just take wealth, sex, and food as examples. Wealth is an indispensable thing in life. With what attitude? Just seek enough to get by. Why crave more? Absolutely don't cling to wealth. Help others if you have extra, that is to practice your good fortune. Practice giving alms will get wealth as a reward. Thus you will never lack wealth.

It's wrong to amass wealth. You must know to disperse money. The lust of sex must be constrained, and you must know to nourish essence and preserve vitality. Then you will be long-lived and healthy, and reduce the suffering of sickness and old age. Eat sufficient and plain food only. Never crave for delicious or excessive food. There are too many gluttonous people. Those who crave for food are pitiful. Can you tell the reason? They are careless of their health. After the food is eaten, who will digest it?
Intestine, stomach, and liver will work. This is their job to digest this stuff.

If you eat a lot and fell too full every day, and the workload increases, it's pitiful and complaining. If you often do this, they become unable to work finally, and develop stomach cancer, intestinal cancer, liver cancer. It dies, and other organs die with it.
So you need to know overeating is slow suicide. When I see a gluttonous man, he is committing suicide slowly, he has no idea.
Sakyamuni Buddha has taught us the way of diet , that's to eat one meal a day. Why? To lighten the workload of organs. When the loads are reduced, people will live longer, be healthy without problems.
