Teacher Rui-Lie Lee ???? The Underworld #2, Transfer Merit to the Deceased 冥界 回向功德给亡灵

According to the Ksitigarbha (Earth Treasury or Earth Store) Sutra, When people die, the virtuous will ascend to heaven directly, and the evil will degrade to hell directory. Those who are half-good and half-evil will become bardo and wait in the waiting place. What are they doing there, waiting 7x7 days, that is 49 days. That's why we do the ritual on the 7th day. Then I will give you proof, which is cited from the sutra. I don't prove it with my mouth. If so, I am lying. I will prove it with sutras. It says: In the 49 days, divided into 7 periods.

Each period has 7 days. 7 x 7 days = 49 days. Now he is waiting for his descendants to do merits, which is doing benevolence and transfer the merits to him. Then he is waiting there for 7 days. You descendants didn't transfer merits, and he waits another 7 days. You descendants didn't transfer merits again, and he waits another 7 days. He will keeps waiting until the end of the 7th period, and those are 7x7 days, 49 days. If his descendants didn't do merits during the 49 days, he will reincarnate according to his karma. Everybody has to reincarnate in 49 days. What if you, the descendant, do merits and transfer to him? According to the Ksitigarbha Sutra, he will change from inferior to superior. Let's say, you usually behave neither bad nor good. So, deliver you in an ordinary family.

But, due to the merit transferred from your descendant, deliver you in a rich family and help you switch to a better environment. Someone asked me, “what if the deceased has been dead for a long time, can I do it over 49 days?”
Sure, you can, but it's cumbersome. It'd be easier if it's done in 49 days because he hasn’t been reincarnated yet. After 49 days, it'd be cumbersome. Because he has been reborn. For example, if you do it after he died 100 days, he has been reborn for 50 days and is a few weeks old baby. What will happen to him if you transfer merit to him now? If you dedicate a lot of merits to him, he originally comes from an ordinary family, according to the cause and effect,

it is impossible for him to develop well in such a family. As a result, it lets the baby die and be reborn in another rich family. Thus, someone says, In this way, Wouldn't this hurt their parents? They are saddened by the death of their baby. Heaven will not treat them unfairly. Heaven is the fairest, I guarantee you. You may foresee, after the baby dies, his mother will conceive again soon. Really, I don't lie to you. She will get another one as compensation. Do you remember a kidnapping case that happened many years ago? You may recall that case.
That child was killed by kidnappers. The mother's doctor said she couldn't get pregnant. I kept the newspaper that reported the doctor's diagnosis.

The unimaginable result was that not long after, the mother became pregnant again. The doctor said, Strangely enough, she shouldn't get pregnant. To put it bluntly, this is a grace from Heaven. When a couple's child dies young, if they are destined to have children, the mother will conceive again. Otherwise, having no children is doomed. Furthermore, someone says, My father has died over 30 years. Is it effective to dedicate merits to him? Yes it works, I will tell you a principle. You calmly ponder whether it is effective or not. You see, some people live a hard life and never have a chance to get ahead in life. Suddenly, he gets an unexpected fortune, such as winning the lottery or receiving a bonus. That is transferred from his past descendant.

Frankly, he doesn't have that luck. So, it's interesting about the dedication of merit involving reincarnation. You listen to me slowly, and you will understand. Then how do you liberate the deceased via worship rituals? Because everything has to follow karma. I would advise you that the best is reciting sutras and repentance. Nowadays, people only recite sutras but do not recite repentance. Sutras are different with repentance. There are several repentance. Nowadays, most people recite Water Repentance, and some recite Emperor Liang Repentance. You may request the Daoist priest to recite sutras and then recite repentance. Sutra is leading the way. Repentance is confessing. Now the sutra talks about filial piety. Oh, I was not filial when I was alive, now I confess.
