Subtitles:
How are you, Master, I have 3 questions. The 1st one, how can I cease random thoughts? Let my mind not be influenced
by the outer circumstance and be at peace.
2nd, I am so lucky that my mom believe in Buddhism. We live together. For many years, my mother insists on reciting sutra and chanting Buddha at 3 a.m. every day. I admire her so much and want to be like her too,. but I am lazy, I cannot insist. How to overcome a lazy attitude.
The 3rd, both my mom and me believe in Buddhism. I became a vegetarian after I got pregnant with my 2nd child. When I was pregnant, everybody says: reciting The Sutra of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha's Fundamental Vows is good. But when I was reciting, I also learnt Chinese traditional culture. It's said that when pregnant, mother should say good words, listen to good things, and do good deeds. That is to contact the positive, not to contact the negative.
However, when I recite The Sutra of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha's Fundamental Vows. In it, it often describes hell, ghosts, and karma. I am always confused, do they have a conflict? Thanks.

It does not matter to recite this sutra. The Ksitigarbha Sutra mentions. The pregnant woman reciting The Ksitigarbha Sutra plants good roots for the baby. So we still take what the sutra says as the standard.
The 2nd question, I also have the bad habit of lazing around. We all have this bad habit. I recommend you go to a small local Buddhist temple for a multi-person practicing. You better often join to rely on the public. At home, a person may easily slack off. So the role of temples and Buddhist halls is to encourage each other to practice altogether to prevent slackness. It's really prone to slack off at home.
Just like me, I am demotivated at home either. So we come to temples and rely on each other. The great virtues of ancient times advocated attachment to the masses. I suggest if you are available, even once a week is fine to practice together once. It will help you improve your slack problem. This is important. Just as we cling to the masses here today. If no one comes today, I'll go to do something else, and we won't have any course or do any practice. So we schedule a course where everybody would practice together. Or you invite a few fellows to your house to practice together. If they come and you don't practice, you'll be embarrassed. Then you will practice, right?
Have too many delusions? I have more than you do. How can I teach you to get rid of delusion? Frankly speaking, it is impossible for us mortals to get rid of delusions. How can we subdue delusions? Not only Buddhism, but Daoism and Confucian also provide methods to eliminate delusions.

Chanting the Buddha is also a method to subdue delusions. That is to use the thought of chanting Buddha to substitute for all the other delusive thoughts. But we often feel that even though we chant, there are still many delusions. Sometimes, even that when I don't chant buddha, I feel no delusion but when I chant, I feel more delusions than that I didn't chant.
Frankly speaking, there are many delusions originally. It's not because of chanting buddha, then you have more delusions. It's because of chanting that you realize you have so many delusions. So the great virtues of ancient times taught us to ignore it. When delusions arise, just ignore them. Don't worry about this delusion, don't memorize this delusion. Just ignore. We keep our mind on chanting the Buddha. In this way, gradually, our delusions will naturally decrease.
We have a principle about delusion, that is, Because it is delusion, delusion is not true. Since it's not true, we need not care about it. The more you care, the more delusions will arise. For example, we found why we have so many delusions, another delusion arises. When will I chant to be single-minded? another delusion arose. I had a bad idea yesterday. Why did that thought arise again? I regret very much! Another delusion arise...There is no end time, right? It's hard to cease the delusions. Sometimes, we chant buddha, and that is ineffective, we recite sutra, and that is also ineffective.

In the past, the venerable master advocated to recite The Infinite Life Sutra. That was 30 years ago. A layman told me: Master Wudao. I can recite the Infinite Life Sutra by memory backward from the last word and do not make a mistake. However, he told me he couldn't cease delusions. I can have delusions at the same time while I'm reciting by memory. You are really outstanding, I said. I am really inferior to you.
This shows that ordinary people have no way to deal with delusions. Why? Because we don't know that is delusion and regard it as real. Then your delusion grow and you can never stop it.
To stop delusions, I have a method to introduce to you. For reference only, this is my experience. I am like you. After chanting Buddha for so long.
