A layperson living in Dadu brought a couple here. That layman supports me very much. If somebody died over there, they will invite me through him to help with the chanting. He brought the couple to the Lotus Society this time. He said their house caught fire. Their parents and three children were burnt to death, including a boy and two girls. This couple felt lonely and missed their children.

They want to give birth to children again, but this lady has already ligated and couldn't give birth. So they tried technology, artificial insemination to implant twice, but all to no avail. So they asked the layman to take them to the Lotus Society. When they were in the Lotus Society, they asked me what to do? The doctor told them to implant the third time. What can they do to implant? They asked me how they can do to implant? How to pray? So, they can implant successfully.
I told them: “I think you are doomed to have no children,

so that your three children would be burned. You were destined to be childless, so your two implantation attempts were unsuccessful.” I said, “It's not good to use technology because it's more against the nature. If you really want to give birth again, ask the doctor to remove the ligation.”
“The doctor said that removing ligation is like tying a finger with a rope, it will leave a mark.” There is a bone in your finger, and it transmits through the surrounding flesh. Oviduct is a flexible tube, it will stick together after being tied over time. So, the egg does not enter the oviduct.

“You ask the doctor to unclog it, and it will open,” I said. “Then you pray to the Buddha, who has infinite divine power. If you pray to Buddha, certainly it is principle and matter are one. Tell the doctor to unclog it, have to open it a little where it ties.
If you want to give birth to a good child, you must pray to the Buddha. Or, you are doomed to be childless, if you forcefully pursue a child, you would end up get a karmic creditor. You'll be more miserable having a baby than not having one. If you give birth to a boy with five incomplete features, you will take care of him for the rest of his life. You will be sorry the entire life. You have to clean his urine and feces, you will cry all day long.” Thus I told them.

“You go let the doctor unclog it first, don't implant again. If you are really determined, you have to practice hard, worship Buddha 300 times a day. One and a half hours each in the morning and evening. If you worship 45 minutes in the morning, you will worship 150 times; circle the Buddha for 10 minutes; then sit and chant the Buddha for the rest 35 minutes. Before practicing, pour a pot of water and remove the lid. When you have completed your practice, this pot of water is Buddha water. Then kneel down and put your hands together and say Namo Sakyamuni Buddha three times, Amitabha 3 times, and Avalokitesvara 3 times. Disciple so-and-so tragically suffered a fire, and my parents and 3 children all died.”

“Now I feel lonely and helpless and want to have another child. May Sakyamuni Buddha, Amitabha, and Avalokitesvara shine brightly. Let those virtuous, wise, well-practiced beings who had a good affinity with us in prelife be reincarnated as my child. When he grow up, he will become a virtuous and knowledgeable person, and support the triple jewels.
If I am destined to have a child, let me get pregnant in one year. If I am destined to be childless and not pregnant in one year, I will no longer pursue.” This is what I taught them. On hearing my advice, the couple were very delighted. Because I was very busy that day.

It's past lunch time 11am, and they've hammered on the board for long. I didn't have time to speak more to them. They haven't eaten, and me either. Besides, I am going to expound to others at 2pm. So I don't have much time. Originally, I would give them an example, which is inspiring.
One day, a Buddhist laywoman came to pick us up to help with chanting for a deceased - her mother.

I sat beside her, and she told me her mishap. She said: “Master, I don’t have my own child, but I adopted one. And I have a question for you about the child. Since he was a baby, I've been raising him, and he is 14 years old now. He has graduated from elementary school and is now in middle school. I dote on this child a lot and treat him as my own child.
But he has ruined me for 14 years, ever since I brought him back. He's a very picky eater. Even as a teenager, he wet the bed every night. A teenager wetting the bed is unacceptable. He is irritable and misbehaved.
