Now we are looking at Master Daoyuan with reverence, who is an eminent monk at present. Master Daoyuan learned from a remarkable and brilliant teacher, Master Cizhou. Under his strict teaching, his understanding of the Dharma was very clear. After he understood the principle of the Dharma thoroughly, he was mindful of the Buddha desperately to seek rebirth in the Western Land of Bliss.
After years of hard study, he finally graduated. He could go downhill to preach dharma and liberate sentient beings. Then he bid farewell to the teacher. After bidding farewell, he went down the stairs. Due to his joyful mood, his footsteps were brisk, his teacher saw it, and he was grounded. saying the dignity and manner is not enough. Look, where can we find this kind of teacher?
So-called, if one is not humble enough, he cannot acquire the truth. The ancient people wanted to learn crafts from others, they have to be extremely humble. Then he will be able to receive the true transmission from the teacher. Master Daoyuan knew the dharma so clearly that he converted the merits of the sutras he preached to the Land of Bliss. He was dedicated to being mindful of the Buddha to seek rebirth in the West.
After the government retreated to Taiwan, he built a temple at Badu and named it HaiHui Temple.

The topic today - Lotus Pond Hai Hui (meeting each other in the sea-like lotus pond), indicating that he specializes in Pure Land Sect.
The venerable monk was very weak when he was old. He is nearsighted 3000 degrees, which is the top in Taiwan. It is truly a great merit for him to dedicate himself to all beings with such a weak body. He actually lived to near 90 years old (1900-1988).
Because he was a professional dharma preacher, he proposed that dharma preachers should pass three hurdles. The 1st is to pass the hurdle of fame, do not cling to prestige. The 2nd is to pass the hurdle of fortune, do not plot to take advantage. The 3rd is to pass the hurdle of respect. You don't crave fame or benefit. Even if you do not desire fame or fortune, it is not right to be arrogant while people praise you, bow to you, or respect you.
He said, you can talk dharma superficially , you can talk deeply, but you can't talk incorrectly. What you talk must have a base. It's best to follow the ancient virtuous people, who arguably has good knowledge and has achievement. According to those preaching, you won't violate the truth and have bad karma. You think this way and say it, later, you can't retrieve it. You can't retrieve the wrong views according to your delusion at that moment.
Before he was reborn, one of his disciple, Master Renguang, translated his sermons specifically.

He spoke Mandarin, and Renguang translated to Taiwanese. Such a disciple left him first. The venerable master said to the disciple, you are younger than me 20+ years. Now you are going earlier. That is due to our individual causality. You have contributed your best for this temple. Now just let go of all causalities. No need to worry anything. Chant buddha and get reborn in the Land of Bliss. Return under your vow and
appear as an eminent monk to ferry sentient beings. After saying that, he saw his disciple off for rebirth. Before his rebirth, it was just the time when his temple held the precept assembly every 10 years in rotation, such an important event.
The master told his disciple: You can't see our Haihui Temple holding the precept assembly, me either. He knew the time for his rebirth in advance. Then he help chanting for his disciple's rebirth. After rebirth before funeral, his coffin was still placed in the courtyard of the temple.
The master said, I will be reborn too. Let's go back to Haihui Temple to help chanting. At that time, they were in the hospital. The master had this wisdom, knowing it's inconvenient to help chanting in the hospital.
It is much better now, Buddhism is more prevalent in Taiwan than before. All major hospitals have a buddha hall, even with prayer rooms.
Nonetheless, it's a hospital where the public goes in and out. The best place for rebirth is at home.
So the 5 blessings of Confucianism for a person. The last one is to rest in peace at home when life comes to the end.

And that's the full blessings. Master knew very well that he wanted to go back to Haihui Temple to chant buddha. Many people heard the news and rushed there. Master was very kind. People help him chant the buddha 24 hours. On hearing that, I headed to Badu from Taichung. It was my honor to join them, help him chant buddha and see him off.
When I arrived, I hung the picture on it. Hung the picture that we chant the buddha for rebirth. Of course, we need the approval of the temple first.
They knew we did it all the time, and they felt reassured.
