Master Hai Tao - Karmic Creditors Grab a Dying Woman 寃亲债主抓住垂死妇女

Furthermore, I will tell another story. In Miaoli, Taiwan, there is a female believer named Chunmei Huang. She has a filial daughter, who likes to study Buddhism and recite Ksitigarbha Sutra. The mother is seriously ill and is suffering in the intensive care unit of the hospital. After reciting Ksitigarbha Sutra, the daughter knew that if she makes offering to the monks who keep precepts well, and transfer this merit to her mother, hoping her mom could be free from misery. So she went visiting Master Guanghua, who was an elder keeping precepts very well. They happened to be on retreat at the time.
She told the elder: Monk, my mom was seriously sick. May all the monks receive my offering? Hoping to reduce her pain. Master Guanghua was so kind that he asked all monks out of retreat and said: A benefactor makes offering and pray for blessing. May everyone be compassionate.
Many monks don't love money, especially those who keep the precepts.

However, the Buddha said: If people make offering, you have to accept. If you don't accept, you are not merciful. Why? Because it's written on the sutra. If you offer to the Buddha or monks in the future, you will get a decisive reward. What is a decisive reward? a dignified appearance in the next life, and you will get a decisive reward. When making offerings to monks, you pray for your parents' good health and the liberation of your 7-lives parents, and you will be rewarded decisively. So, if you offer to the monks in the future and have a special wish, tell the monks: Master, I wish to be pretty in the next life. The master says: Bless you. Then you are miserable, you are so beautiful, and you will be too pretty to practice. This is the benefit to make offering to the monks. By the way, you learn about it. Then the daughter made offering to all the monks, hoping her mom to be free from suffering.

Master Guanghua was so kind that he said: Oh. Your mom is in ICU, ok. Originally, when monks were on retreat, if they go out, they will violate precept. The Venerable Master said: We have more than 20 people who will accept your offerings. For the sake of this dutiful daughter, we're all going down to see her mom in the hospital. As a result, 2 dozens of monks went to bless this cancer patient whose belly has swollen one foot high. They recited the Buddha and Rebirth Mantra, and gave her revelation. After the elder and monks left, her belly deflated.
The daughter was so devout that she recited Ksitigarbha Sutra every day. On the 3rd day, the mother woke up in good spirits and wanted to drink congee. The daughter was very happy and grateful for the venerable master's merit. When the mom felt better, the daughter told her:

Mom, the master asked you to chant the Buddha more to be reborn in the Pure Land. On the 6th day, the mom saw many karmic creditors. This is critical. When a person is dying, he will see many dead familiar people, but they are not your relative. Those are the forms your karmic creditors manifest in order to catch you. Hence, we usually inform the dying person not to go with them, no matter who they are. So, back then, her mom saw many dead loved ones. Mom, you should never go, said the daughter, just keep chanting Buddha in according to Ksitigarbha Sutra. Ok, said the mother, then she chanted the Buddha more devoutly. The daughter was dutiful.
On the 7th day, the mom said, Oh, I see Amitabha, real Amitabha. Go after him quickly, said the daughter. But the mom said: I cannot. Why? I feel somebody grabbing my feet. The right foot is grabbed by a white dog and a black dog. The left foot is grabbed by a child. The daughter had no idea totally,

my mom has seen the Buddha, but on the other side, she cannot move. She hurriedly called Master Guanghua. The venerable master asked her: I see, may I know what it has to do with your mother’s life? Eh, I know, it's because my brother has poor vision. My mother went asked a quacks, and he prescribed: Kill a white dog and black dog to nourish my brother with their eyes. Later, due to poverty, my mother had to have an abortion when she had her 13th child. See, killing dogs and abortion prevent her from rebirth. What's these? Karmic creditors. Then the master told her: Tell your mom. If she cannot speak, you speak for her to these karmic creditors: If you let her be reborn in the Pure Land, when she achieves success in the future, she will ferry you first. As a daughter, I will also dedicate the merits of being a vegetarian and freeing animals to you. Please let her go. Her mom also plead: Let me go.
