Master Chin Kung - How to Reverse Karma and be Healthy 如何轉業,保持健康
(English subtitles) Buddhist Master Chin-Kung (淨空法師), 1927-2022, talks dharma.
Subtitles:
Karma is created by yourself. You must turn around and eliminate your karmic hindrance. No one can substitute this matter. Look at the Shurangama assembly, when Ananda was harassed by Maid of Mātaṅga. That is a very obvious example. Could Sakyamuni Buddha help him? He couldn't help him.
Only then did Ananda truly realize. As a proverb says about practice: A male practices and he achieves, a female practices and she achieves, no practice and no achieve. There's no substitute for that.
When you meet a wise man, an awakened man, he guides you, teaches you methods, explains reasons to you. The Buddhas do not help us any more than that. After knowing the methods and theory, you have to make efforts to practice. Practice is to correct your wrongdoings. When Your karmic hindrances are eliminated, your destiny will turn around.

I often encourage my students to change their karmic bodies into volitional bodies, and then we will be at ease. Then you will be blessed by the Buddhas, and be sheltered by the gods.
How to change? I've talked a lot about it.
When you don’t encounter the Dharma, all your thoughts are selfish. Who doesn’t put their own interests first? We were all like this when we didn’t learn Buddhism. After studying Buddhism, I suddenly realized that such thought and attachment were wrong. What is this? This is the karma of reincarnation.
Buddhism teaches us that we should reverse this thought, so that from now on there is no more self. Let go of selfish thoughts and forsake my desires. Never put my interests first. Everything is for Buddha Dharma and for living beings. With this reverse, your karma is transformed into the power of your will.
We need to know how to reverse. You make such a lofty vow in front of the Buddha. From now on, I will do it for the Dharma and living beings, and never for myself. Your thoughts have reversed.
4:00
This effect is powerful. If your karmic creditors avenge you and cause trouble for you, that’s because you have selfish motives. Now that you have changed your mind, your karmic creditors not only dare not trouble you, but they support you and help you.
Why? He cannot take revenge on you. Because you are for all sentient beings. If he harms you, he will harm all sentient beings. He cannot bear this sin. If you are not for the sake of all sentient beings or the Dharma, and you are selfish and seek only your own benefit. He can deal with you.
Today, when you vow for all beings and for promoting the Dharma, your karmic creditors see you and dare not to hamper you, but only support you aside, and to fulfill you.
If you understand this principle, you will know how to reverse this karma, and the transformation is very effective.
I myself have also undergone a transformation. When I was young, my mother and some of my relatives and friends read my fortune. They told me that I would not live to be 45 years old, which is my karmic lifespan. I started practicing Buddhism when I was 26 years old, and I didn’t seek longevity.
When I was 45 years old, I fell ill and stayed ill for a week. I knew the time had come. So I didn’t see a doctor or take any medicine.
6:00
I chanted Buddha every day, waiting for rebirth. After a month of chanting, I recovered from my illness.
I have never seen doctors in my life, so I don’t have medical records in any hospital. Reverse my karma. Don't do it for yourself anymore, doing it for yourself is a dead end. Do things for the sake of all beings is a way of survival.
I often advised my students that whether you can enter the state of Buddha relies on whether you can give up selfishness. If you can put aside your selfishness and think about everything for all beings, everything for society, and everything for promoting the Dharma, your karma will be reversed. Reverse is what Buddhism often say about coming back with a wish. You're a reborn body with a wish, not a karmic body. After reverse, we must be diligent, work hard, be determined not to slack off, and be determined not to create sinful karma. Hence, after reverse, you must read and recite the sutras every day. Reading and reciting sutras is to accept the teachings of Buddha.
8:00
Accept the teachings of Buddha every day and follow them. Even if we recite the same sutra every day, every time we recite it, we could gain enlightenment. So, from the first moment of devotion till attain Buddhahood, one can recite the same sutra tirelessly.
Why?
There are new meanings every time, there are new enlightenment every time. Reading and reciting is really a lot of fun. I never get tired. It helps us live, helps us work, helps us deal with people The benefits to us are profound and endless.
With this method, you can uplift and ferry your karmic creditors and recover your health.
