In Buddhism, there are 4 stages of fruition in Sravaka. The 1st one is Srota-apanna: After remove views of affliction, one enter the stream of holy living; never enter the 3 bad paths. The 2nd one is Sakradagamin: come to be born as human once again, or come-once fruition. The 3rd is Anagamin: will not be reborn in the 6 Paths, but in the Form Realm or Formless Realm, or no-come fruition. The 4th stage is Arhan: No-birth fruition. The fruition of the 2nd stage is higher than the 1st stage. People of the 1st fruition won't fall into the 3 evil paths. People of the 2nd fruition are qualified to be a bodhisattva. Because his karmic hindrance has not been eliminated yet. After he achieved the 2nd fruition, can he not repay the debt and run away? A bodhisattva won't owe people debt. So he has to reincarnate as a human once again to eliminated karma, then he can achieve fruition. Some say he might be confused when reborn as a human. But the rebirth of the come-once fruition sages differs from that of the ordinary. People usually are confused after rebirth. Why? Because of the birth procedure. But the sage of come-once fruition is not, who will find a place. Find a virtuous place where is good for practice. Find a suitable place to reincarnate. He has perfect merits but has not yet eliminated his karma. He might be born as a prince in a royal family like the Buddha. He knows his past life when he is born.

So after the sage of come-once fruition is born, he knows what happened in his past lives and won't do bad deeds and definitely will practice to eliminate his karma. The come-once fruition has this benefit that he is willing to suffer the karma he deserves. The ordinary who cannot endure it will complain and pray to gods and buddhas.
To aim at this issue, let's look at the explanation of come-once fruition in Buddhist dictionary. It says in the dictionary: Sakradagamin is translated as come-once in Chinese. Sakradagamin is come-once fruition, meaning that people practicing to this level will be born in heaven as a one-life celestial after death. Celestial is god or the being in heaven and will be born as a human once in this world. Then he will never suffer reincarnation in the desire realm. The desire realm is the 6 paths. He doesn't need to suffer the reincarnation in the 6 paths.
It is said that the come-once fruition is qualified as a Bodhisattva. However, his karma isn't eliminated, and he has to be born again to eliminate his karma. But he will soon eliminate the karma because he knows it. We, ordinary people, don't know the karma of past lives, so we complain. The come-once sages know the karma of past lives. Since knowing the karma of past lives, he will naturally accept it. It's like I knew I owe someone money, and I will repay it.

If you don't know who you owe money to, when others force you, I don't owe you money, why do you ask me for money? Like that.
Today, if you practice the acquired path, you will reincarnate in the 6 paths, carrying your karma and get the accumulating retribution life after life.
It's different for those who practice the innate path. If karma is not eliminated, you won't be freed from birth and death. If you don't believe, I will give you an example, and you won't complain this issue.
Now let's take a look at the renowned disciple Maudgalyayana of Sakyamuni Buddha, who had the best divine power. The honored one Maudgalyayana died tragically. How tragically? He was hit to meat pulp. He practiced so well, why was he hit to meat pulp? This is his karma.
Let's take a look at Ekottara Agama Sutra. In this article, there are Maudgalyayana and Sariputra. Both they were the greatest disciples of Sakyamuni Buddha and arguably the highest level of disciples. So to say, the disciples of Buddha's left and right. Let's look at the Treatise on the Perfection of Wisdom, it wrote. Sariputra is the Buddha's disciple standing on the right side; Maudgalyayana is the Buddha's disciple standing on the left side. It wrote in Ekottara Agama Sutra, the honored one is the great eminent person that Confucius mentioned.

Maudgalyayana went in Kapilavastu city to beg for food, begging for food from door to door. Several Brahmacarins carrying sticks. What is Brahmacarin? Let's see Treatise on the Perfection of Wisdom. Brahmacarins is all the non-buddhist monks.
Back then in India, there were many schools for practice. All the monks except Sakyamuni's disciples are called Brahmacarin.
They distantly saw Maudgalyayana coming and said, “Maudgalyayana is the Monk Sakyamuni's disciple. Among Sakyamuni disciples, none is more terrific than this man. Today we must work together to surround him and beat him to death. If we beat Sakyamuni's great disciple to death, his effort will be in vain.”
Then all the heretical monks beat him with sticks till he was mashed.
