Do Phật hiệu nên tâm thuỷ ngưng lặng. Bởi thế, kẻ thượng trí chẳng bằng kẻ hạ ngu, biến quá khéo thành vụng về lớn vậy!”

May master expound, what is the order of practicing Mahayana Buddhism? If you are old and frail, it is best to concentrate on cultivating the good roots of the Pure Land. Faith, volition, and prajna, three parts, and keep practicing. That's enough.
If you are still young, my advice is as follows: First, you have to learn Mere Consciousness(Yogachara, Vijnanavada, Consciousness Only). The study of Mere Consciousness is so important to let you understand yourself. Because Mere Consciousness talks about the dependent origination from the perspective of human nature. How have you been since the infinite eons?
1:00
On the basis of the first five consciousness, the 6th consciousness gives rise to delusion, and the 7th consciousness leads to attachment, which are then stored in the storehouse of the 8th consciousness. Then release it again in the next life, that's a cycle. If you learn Mere Consciousness, you will know your status, what was going on in your past lives? Recognize your destiny via Mere Consciousness first.
Then the enlightened Shurangama, which must be learned. It lets you leave the form first and find your home. Shurangama, to leave all forms and get enlightened. The Lotus Sutra, to attain buddhahood, is also a must-learn. Because it approaches everything, cultivating one's mind by all forms. After Shurangama Sutra gets rid of the form, the Lotus Sutra borrows it back. Then I want to practice giving via the form of beings. I need to practice forbearance via adverse form.
2:00
So, Shurangama Sutra washes off all forms. All good and bad reset. When comes to the Lotus Sutra, it presents false out of emptiness. However, at this moment, it's to borrow forms to practice dharma. When practicing the dharma of giving, I need to borrow being's forms. When practicing the dharma of refuge, the Buddha's form is needed. Borrow it back again. Borrow the fake to practice the real. To practice the good roots by means of forms.
Let's just say that one picture is already a mess. The Surangama Sutra erases everything on the blackboard, while the Lotus Sutra draws new things on it. Recognize destiny by Mere Consciousness; Enlightened by Shurangama; Become a buddha by Lotus. Finally, if you lay these three foundations well and then convert to the solemn Pure Land.
3:00
You have to build a solid foundation before having a powerful force. However, if you have been 60 years old, ignore every word I just said. You just study The Essentials of the Amitabha Buddha Sutra. Faith, volition, and prajna. Then build a good relationship with the Buddha's name. As I mentioned, leave the form first, then build up faith and volition. Then bring up the Buddha's name.
