Do Phật hiệu nên tâm thuỷ ngưng lặng. Bởi thế, kẻ thượng trí chẳng bằng kẻ hạ ngu, biến quá khéo thành vụng về lớn vậy!”

Ok, the next. Practice but can not attain achievement. Sentient beings have 10 major faults and they are difficult to cure. Monk Xutong said, What are the faults that one practice but can not get achievement.
First, the fault is due to lack of self-confidence. Have no confidence. Consider myself as a rotten root. I am useless, I am hopeless, right? I have such a heavy karmic hindrance. Look, I smoke, drink, and have affairs with women. I was ignorant before. I have various diseases, I will die. The fault is due to a lack of confidence.
So patriarch told us. As long as you start, it's never too late. So, Cultivate but to no avail. Mainly because of a lack of self confidence. If one lacks confidence, then it goes without saying. Can you achieve buddhahood? I am not confident. Do you have the confidence to comprehend dharma? No self confidence,
he doesn't want to listen anymore. Can you finish 3000 times of worshiping buddha? Worship for a period of burning one or two sticks of incense. Well, he can't go on worshiping without coffee. As he kneels down, his legs tremble.
Confidence is the root of all bodhi. The beginning of buddhahood. So, if you don't have confidence in this life, you don't have to say further. Monk Xutong says the 1st fault that one practices but to no avail is due to a lack of confidence.
2:00
The 2nd fault is to differentiating between right and wrong, gain and loss. That is, if you emphasis on gain, you will look frustrated, if there is a loss. Right and wrong, grateful and resentful, it never stops for a day. So, we have to know gain and loss are against self nature. You have your own stance on right or wrong.
Sentient beings are, I'm big, and you are small. I'm right, and you are wrong. I'm good, and you are bad. Beings usually cling to right and wrong, gain and loss, good and evil nonstop. In short, they won't have a peaceful day.
A Chan master asked, Over 100 years, which are 36,500 days, have you ever had a peaceful day? Have you? Someone asked Chan Master Linying: Why can't sentient beings have achievement? He spoke a poem: People and ignorance (avidya) are strung together with a string. That is, every day you are engaged in gain and loss, right and wrong, ignorance, arguing, arrogance, which take more time than you practice. How can you be successful? You are suffering a lot.
Monk Xutong said: The 3rd fault that people practice but to no avail is due to my biased and obsessive views.
4:00
My view, which is my opinion and my take, is so and so. Gentlemen, why do dad and mom bicker? Because dad wants to transform mom, mom wants to transform dad. That's why they bicker. Where is the problem ? My view, In modern terms, this is called clinging to my concept, which is firm and non-breakable. No one is willing to recede or admit defeat.
So, as a wise person, we should not quarrel with our destiny. Now that you are married and have children but still arguing with your destiny. This is not an intellectual. What's the problem? Many sentient beings practice but to no avail because they are bigoted in their opinions.
I spoke this before. Subjectivity, prejudice, and arrogance are the permanent prison for the consciousness of birth and perish(arising and ceasing). That is, always stuck in one's own angle without kindly tolerance or temporary harmony.
So we often sympathize with someone. That man is pitiful. You have to turn around, you are also pitiful. You are even more pitiful than others. Why? You always think you are right.
The 4th fault that you practice but fail to succeed. You fall into a lair of form and measure. When cling to the form, you have a measure. The buddha is broad-minded as a void. He won't fall into a measurable trap.
6:00
Clinging to forms is to fall into the trap of form. The Buddha sees infinite life in a finite form because he has the self nature of emptiness. The Buddha could see infinity from this cup. Why? Forms are empty. Sentient beings love delusive forms, distinguish between large and small.
Saints like to stay away from forms, no distinguish between large and small, having void in their mind. So saints are unboundedly magnanimous, knowing everything is like a delusion. All matters are like dreams and bubbles, are like dews and like lightning. We should regard them like these.
orms induce people's delusion. Forms frame people's view. So Plato said: Every phenomenon is our prison. Sentient beings cling to what they see and are immersed in their senses. Saints are different. They see all kinds of forms but stay away and do not cling to the form.
Once, a person asked me: Master Hui Lu, Why did you leave home? I told him, I can't find happiness in this world. I really can't find happiness in this world. If the affection between men and women must be joyful. Why are there so many couples bickering every day? So many couples get divorced.
