Trong số đó, lắm kẻ bình nhật tự vỗ ngực là bậc thông Tông, thông Giáo, coi Tịnh Ðộ như uế vật, chỉ sợ nó làm bẩn lây đến mình. Lúc lâm chung, đa số chân loạn tay cuống, kêu cha gào mẹ. Trong số ấy, có những người trì giới niệm Phật già giặn, chắc thật, dù Tín Nguyện chưa đến mức cùng cực, tướng lành chẳng hiện, nhưng đều an nhiên mạng chung. Vì sao như vậy? Là vì tâm thuỷ trong lặng, do phân biệt nên xao động, đục ngầu, sóng thức trào dâng. Do Phật hiệu nên tâm thuỷ ngưng lặng. Bởi thế, kẻ thượng trí chẳng bằng kẻ hạ ngu, biến quá khéo thành vụng về lớn vậy!”

All evils derive from greed, anger, and obsession. All good roots result from lack of greed, anger, and obsession. Many people cling to greed, anger, and obsession, and are reluctant to let go and unwilling to relax. It will be too late to regret when the retribution comes. So we have to be vigilant every moment and often be aware of the 3 poisons of affliction. Many people are deeply rooted in these 3 vices. We must root them out and plant the 3 good roots.
Too truthfully keep the 3 good roots, you have to remember the last two sayings of the Buddha. Take precepts as your teacher, regard suffering as your teacher. If you are afraid of suffering, you cannot keep the precepts, and definitely are unable to eradicate the 3 poisons of affliction.

Must be able to keep precepts, suffer hardships, and endure humiliation. Humiliation is a representative word, which means you can endure every thing, and be able to bear the hurt from people, able to endure the harshness of the environment, able to endure the hardships of practice. So that we definitely don't complain about fate or blame people, and always have a peaceful mind.
Reflect on yourself everyday and do the morning and evening lessons. I have talked about the morning and evening lessons for many years. The essence of the morning lesson is to remind yourself that your mind, speech, and actions today shall be in line with the Buddha. This is the meaning. The evening lesson is to remind you to reflect on yourself. Today, did I do what the Buddha taught me? I should reflect on my wrongdoing or those that violate Buddha's teaching and will not do that again.
For the good deeds which are in line with dharma, I did it today, cheer up for myself. I shall keep on tomorrow and not lose it.

This is practicing morning and evening lessons truthfully. The morning and evening lessons are not for you to recite to the Buddha. Recite to him, and you cannot do it, you are committing sins. Why? You lie to him. You tell a lie in the morning, and tell another lie in the evening. You lie to a clay Buddha statue or a wooden Buddha statue. You say how heavy your sin is. Even you are very proud of your practice. I never miss any morning or evening lessons.
You must figure it out. Otherwise, you neither know the sins you have committed nor know why I will fall into the 3 evil paths in the future. Feel I practice not bad, why do I fall in the evil path? It turns out you did it wrong.
