Don't even think about it, I said, you won't get single-minded.
He asked why? You mind of single-mindedness ruins the Buddha chanting. How can you be single-minded? If you forget and throw away single-mindedness, you could become single-minded. As long as you are pursuing, that is a hindrance. Must know this reason. You go to read books truthfully. Don't pursue awakening. When water has come, the channel is done. When the time has come, you will be awakened abruptly. If you read book every day and wish for awakening every day, you won't be awakened after reading the entire life.

It's the delusion that is haunting you. Must know this. The worldly people.
Speaking here, I just chat casually. The ancient Chinese proverb said: Your entire life is destined, nothing is up to you.
What's this, this is cause and effect(karma). Do you believe? Those who believe karma usually behave themselves and are truthful. Why? He doesn't delusively pursue anything. He can't pursue it.
What's to delusively pursue? It's making sinful karma. Even if you get it by delusively pursuing, it's originally in your destiny.
Let's say to pursue wealth. To pursue wealth by improper means, and you've got it. You actually have that in your destiny.

If I go to steal and get it today. It is in my destiny. If someone doesn't have that in his destiny, he can't get it by stealing. He may get caught by the police when he steals, because he doesn't have that in his destiny. So, no matter how you gain by theft or robbery or by all means, those are in your destiny. You tell me, are you ignorant?
If you get that by decent means, probably it will come a bit later. A few years later.
If you get that by indecent means, probably it will come sooner. But your lifespan get shortened instead. When wealth comes to an end, one will dies. You ponder it at the end. What you gain can't compensate your loss. You will be a loser eventually.
Besides, what you gain by indecent means is a fraction of what you originally have in the destiny. Why? Get a discount.

Take pursuing wealth for example, you have 100 million in your fate, but by indecent means, you are likely to get only 40 million, and you think you are outstanding. Wow, I make a fortune, but you don't know you have 100 million in your fate. You have lost 60%.
So, many people don't know the causes and effects in three lifespans. If he knew it, how could he do such things? Fame, profit, and power are the same situation. If you don't strive for it, it gains longer when time elapses. Even get double. If you plan to acquire it by indecent means, you will get less. Your blessings shrink.
