Do Phật hiệu nên tâm thuỷ ngưng lặng. Bởi thế, kẻ thượng trí chẳng bằng kẻ hạ ngu, biến quá khéo thành vụng về lớn vậy!”

The phenomenon of regret after giving is so common, even I myself have it. Indeed, as the book says, if this donation is not sincere, it's not given out of joy, but out of reluctance. Most of the time, for the sake of face or other people's persuasion that you have to take action at the moment, and you regret it after giving.
1:00
Is there any reward? The Buddhist sutra tell us that all giving will have rewards. Even if you do it reluctantly and regret it later, there will still be rewards, and you will still get wealth by giving money. If you look at people in the world who have become rich, some of them make a lot of money easily without worrying about it. They didn't make much efforts.
2:00
Some people work very hard for their money, and he still makes it. What's the reason? If one is very happy to give alms, he will happily and effortlessly acquire wealth in the future. If it's because of someone's advice and he gives reluctantly and then regrets it after giving, it will be very hard for him when he obtains wealth. Even though it is difficult, he still gets it. Hence, giving alms definitely will not be in vain.
3:00
Then we understand the truth told by the Buddha. All sentient beings in the six realms wholeheartedly seek nothing more than wealth, intelligence and wisdom, health and longevity. These are the three basic desires that all sentient beings have. Can you fulfill your wishes? As the proverb says: 8 or 9 out of 10 things are unsatisfactory. From here you know: Out of 10 wishes in daily life, 8 to 9 cannot be fulfilled.
4:00
Therefore, if you realize more than 10% of your wishes, this is acceptable. In fact, there are more than 8 to 9, it's even hard to find a satisfactory one. What's the reason? Most secular people don't know the reasoning.
In fact, in my experience, it's hard to even find one out of 10 that is satisfactory. It's easier to deal with the problem if you know why. But you don't the reason. Seeing others get it, he wants to get it himself. He uses the same method that others use to get what he wants. As a result, while others succeed in their business, he fails in his.
5:00
From this, we can see that all business methods, in terms of Buddhism, are only to increase the condition of success. If you don't have wealth in your fate, you can't get it by any means, you are wasting time no matter how hard you try. If you have wealth in your fate, you can easily acquire it through any means. As the saying goes, if you have it in your fate, you will get it eventually, if you don't have it in your fate, don’t forcefully seek it.
6:00
What's more, rewards have timing conditions. Some people get it when they are young. Their parents are their increasing conditions, and they enjoy good fortune. In middle age, he takes charge of the family business but ends up with a disastrous failure, and lives a miserable life in his later years.
We've seen many people like this in the society. This is because they have enjoyed good fortune at a young age and have nothing remained.
7:00
This kind of people are very pitiful. They have a miserable life in their twilight years. These people enjoy blessings when they are young but do not know to cultivate them. If he does not understand the reasoning behind it, but still leaves a little blessing, he can barely maintain his life in his old age.
If one don't know cultivating his blessings when he is flourishing, and even makes himself cheap, go dining, wining,
whoring and gambling, and don't do decent works, he will soon lose his blessings and will suffer in his old age.
8:00
There are many such people in the society. They are prosperous in their 40s and 50s but become miserable in their 60s and 70s. Hence, when is good fortune most praiseworthy? It is in old age.
Fortune tellers often say that you will have good luck in your twilight years. It doesn't matter if you suffer a little hardship when you are young. Being lucky in your twilight years is better. Why? You have the physical strength to overcome it. Having good luck in your twilight age and being cared by young people are really blessed.
