Modern people often have a variety of strange diseases, like growing tumors and get cancers. Please explain why. This is a very good question. Students of Buddhism know that there are 3 causes of illness in Buddhism. The 1st one is the physical disease, including your diet. As the ancient used to say. Sickness enters through mouth, trouble comes out of mouth. So mouth is the door to misfortune and blessing. Weather changes, and we dress carelessly. These are the sources of physical diseases. The 2nd kind of disease is karmic creditors come to the body. These diseases cannot be cured by doctors. This is called the disease of injustice. The karmic creditors found the debtor. The 3rd kind is called karmic hindrance disease, which is not by karmic creditors but is by too many self-made sins.

To cure the disease of karmic creditors, you need to reconcile with them. Reconciliation is very effective, more than 90% of them will accept. Once they accept, they will leave ,and it is resolved.
The 3rd kind is the karmic hindrance diseases which are difficult to cure. Doctors are helpless, and it cannot be resolved by reconciliation. It's not the karmic creditors come to your door. This is the most difficult, but it can be cured. How? True repentance can eliminate karmic hindrance. If you really can eliminate your karmic hindrance. The disease will be gone. So in a nutshell, in Buddhism, it is said that there is no disease that cannot be cured. The problem is that you have to know the source of the disease. Nowadays, there are many strange diseases. We received a report today, downloaded from internet. This report is a warning from the World Health Organization and the topic is that a global plague crisis might break out. It tells us that in 1970, 39 new viruses had been discovered, that didn't exist in the past. In the past 5 years, this year is 2007, from 2003 to 2007, the WHO has found 1100 epidemic viruses. Where does the virus come from? We all know the Buddha had talked a lot and clearly in the Avatamsaka Sutra.
