Do Phật hiệu nên tâm thuỷ ngưng lặng. Bởi thế, kẻ thượng trí chẳng bằng kẻ hạ ngu, biến quá khéo thành vụng về lớn vậy!”

Subtitles:
May I ask venerable Master, In your cultivation, how do you make yourself completely let go? Thoroughly realize that everything in the world is empty. I all rely on sutra studying and dharma preaching. I often remind students that in this era of learning Buddhism, we have very bad habits and vexations. There is so much temptation out there. How can you resist those 5 desires and 6 dusts?
The only way I can do is by preaching. I don't preach dharma to others, I preach to myself. The others are incidental. If I preach to others, my goal will not be achieved, so I preach it to myself. I share my learning experience with everyone. How much you gain has nothing to do with me. So in the past 57 years, I have not stopped studying sutra or preaching for a single day, and my benefits come from this. We have been together for 30 years, 30 years is not a short time.

She blocked my little bad habits completely, and it has been of great benefit to my lifelong practice. Can I not manage money, affairs, or people? This is people's favorite. All tend to manage people, affairs and money. Can I not manage them? I get along with her, I can't manage it, she manages it, she doesn't allow me to manage it.
When the library was established, she was the curator of the library. Look, there are also quite a few people left home as monks, whose name of generation has 'Wu', and they all followed her. Whoever want to be a monk with me, she definitely would not agree, she would not take him in, and they have to be a monk with her.
So, for 30 years, she's helped me by making sure I don't miss a day on the podium, and I'm satisfied with that. So it forces me having no choice but to let go the management of people, affairs, and money completely. She is my great benefactor.
Without such a virtuous teacher, I would not escape these temptations, which is a good thing, not a bad thing.
She helps me with my accomplishments, so she is reborn in heaven, and she has great merits and blessings. The greater my achievement, the greater her good fortune.

I hold no grudge against her. I have nothing but admiration, respect and gratitude for her. You have to understand that people are mean to me to make me achieved, not to hurt me.
If she gives me all the fame and fortune, she is hurting, and I will fall into a trap. This is an ancient Chinese proverb that says, if you want to harm a monk, you make him an abbot, and you make him a deacon.
He has the power to manage people, money, and wealth. Most of them will fall into hell. That is too bad. However, these things cannot be left unattended. A temple always needs someone to do these stuff.
That's why you can't stop preaching dharma and chanting the Buddha at the temple. Deacons must listen to the sermons and chant the Buddha. If he doesn't listen to the sermons or chant the Buddha, he will surely make troubles when he is in charge of these things and have very bad retribution.
I feel pity for him, pity him for even listening to the sermons every day, but he doesn't understand, why doesn't he understand? It is vexations that hinder him.
He is restless and impatient. Even if the Buddha speaks to him, he won't understand because he has karmic hindrance. When the karma is cut off, his mind is pure and peaceful, he can understand. It's hard if he is restless and impatient, extremely difficult. Indeed, if you stay away from lure, and you are settled and peaceful, you will benefit greatly.

So it's up to you to release yourself from suffering, not others. Those who reprimand me harshly and are mean to me are often my true benefactors. But ordinary people can't stand it. But ordinary people can't stand it. When they meet this kind of person, they will turn away and slander him, then they will not have achievement. Those who help us to let go of fame and fortune; get rid of greed, hatred, obsession and arrogance; cut off discrimination and attachment are truly virtuous teacher.
Money is never a good thing, enjoyment is making karma.
So I often think of our teacher Sakyamuni Buddha. He practiced asceticism all his life and set the best example for us, that is our good example. We have to learn from him in practice, and we have to emulate him, so that we will not fall.
