Do Phật hiệu nên tâm thuỷ ngưng lặng. Bởi thế, kẻ thượng trí chẳng bằng kẻ hạ ngu, biến quá khéo thành vụng về lớn vậy!”

Grandma Liao was from the neighboring county and her maiden name was Zhu.
She was the wet nurse of my late mother.
She became a widow before 30 years old and vowed never to marry again, and was willing to live with my late mother for the rest of her life.
She was 96 years old when she passed away.
She was a serious and outspoken person.
When she had something to say,

she would always argue with the late Madam confidently.
Even my late father respected her very much and did not treat her the same as an ordinary old servant.
My brothers and sisters and I always slept and ate with her when we were young.
She was considerate and attentive to our daily life, including hunger, cold, and warmth.
Whenever my siblings and I were against rules or behaved impolitely, she would scold and stop us.
Therefore, all the servants hated her in their hearts.
Even those who were in charge of the keys to the storehouse and the kitchen could not even think of gaining any personal benefit from it, but they could do nothing about her.

Once, she brought only a little servant back to her maternal home to visit relatives and chat.
It was already evening when they came back.
When they were halfway on the journey, a sudden rainstorm broke out. She and the servant boy took shelter in a shabby house in an abandoned vegetable garden.
At midnight, the rain still continued, and they could vaguely hear someone talking outside the wall.
That's strange. I was just about to go to your house to take shelter from the rain. Why are you sitting under the tree in the rain instead of going in?
Then the man under the tree say, "Stop talking nonsense. Didn't you see the chaste woman from the Liao family in the house?"
After that, no sound was heard again.
Later, the servant boy occasionally told this incident in front of everyone.
The servants said, "This old woman is so unkind that even ghosts hate her and want to avoid her.
Oh, Is it true that the ghost hates her and avoids her?
