Subtitles:
He says he has a friend who practices Chan, and he persuades him. Practicing the Pure Land Buddhism and being mindful of the Buddha will achieve success sooner, so why not practice the Pure Land? He asks if he has committed the sin of defaming the Three Jewels.
It depends on the situation at the time, not necessarily it's defaming the Three Jewels. If you are speaking to a person, this is not a problem. It is not allowed if it is spoken in a Chan temple. It is right and proper to advise a person to practice Pure Land, knowing that he cannot achieve in practicing Chan.
If we observe that this Chan student has achievement, and we see that he will succeed, we should rejoice and praise him, and should not advise him to practice Pure Land.
'All dharma is equal, there is no superiority or inferiority.'
It is critical to observe the opposite side. Especially for one person, no problem.
In fact, if you do not have a good teacher to guide you or do not have an excellent temple or fellow practitioner to assist you, it is difficult to achieve. If he really likes to practice Chan.

I used to know a Chan temple. Master Sheng Yi of the Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. In the Chan temples I have seen, that place is very accordance with dharma and very superior. But now Master Sheng Yi is getting older, and it is said that he is often sick. If the venerable monks cannot take care of these people, it will be very difficult if there is no one to succeed him. Not to mention Hong Kong has established an airport at the place on Lantau Island now and destroyed its feng shui.
It was originally located at the back of Lantau Island, very quiet, and now the airport is built underneath. So, the Buddha said that the world is impermanent, and this is right. So this is not considered slandering the Three Jewels, because you are not in the Chan temple.
