THE PATH OF PURE LAND BUDDHISM, THE ROAD TO THE ETERNAL LIFE AND BLISS
This is the most easy and guaranteed path of success of a Buddhist practice. Pure Land Buddhism is a blissful land created by Amitabha Buddha wherein living beings who were born here had no suffering from disease, hunger, mental distress and lived a very, very long life. This realm could be viewed as a free university, and paradise. The living beings in the Pure Land listen to the lecture during the day and practice meditation while sitting in the lotus in the evening. Upon graduation, the devotee accomplishes a Buddha level of enlightenment, then multiplies into many bodies and spreads out to many realms in the universe in order to help other living beings.
The requirements are faith, practice, and vow. Faith is the belief of the Amitabha Buddha land, practice is the chanting of Namo Amitabha Buddha (another name is Amitayus, or “Infinite Life), and vow is the wish, want, and desire to be born on this land. At the time of death, the Amitabha Buddha and his assembly will escort to his land and be born from a lotus. The devotee who has a great vow to become a Buddha does so in order to help living beings and accomplish Samatha mind (great concentration mind). Theses devotees have the greatest chance to migrate to the Pureland.
Many eons ago, there was a king who was influenced by buddha Lokeśvararāja. The Buddha Lokeśvararāja was a son of the king’s general. The king gave up the throne to his prince to become a monk named Dharmakar. His first and second sons also became monks. His first prince is now Bodhisattava Avalokiteshvara and his second prince is now Bohisattva Mahasthamaprata. After many eons, the Amitabha Buddha will go to Nirvana and Bodhisattava Avalokiteshvara will take over and be the head of the The Pure Land or The Western Paradise. After many eons, Bodhisattava Avalokiteshvara will go to Nirvana. Bohisattva Mahasthamaprata will take over and be the head of Pureland as well.
The practice of Pure Land Buddhism is the silent chanting of Namo Amitabha Buddha while walking, standing, lying or sitting. At the moment of death the adept is required to hold silent chanting of Namo Amitabha for 10 repetitions. The Amitabha Buddha and his Assembly will assist the adept's spirit to be born on his land.
