Do Phật hiệu nên tâm thuỷ ngưng lặng. Bởi thế, kẻ thượng trí chẳng bằng kẻ hạ ngu, biến quá khéo thành vụng về lớn vậy!”

In 1570, Ming Dynasty, there was a man named Lianchen Yu in Jiangxi province. Mr. Yu was knowledgeable and talented. He achieved excellent grades in every exam. He passed the primary level of the imperial civil exam at the age of 18. He and his classmates set up the Wenchan Club together and enshrined the Emperor Wenchan, who is the god in charge of the achievements of scholars. They devoutly followed the treatise on the Silent Blessing of Emperor Wenchan.
Cherish writing paper, free living beings each month. Abstain from sexual misconducts and killing sentient beings.
As for the verbal fault, such as lie, insult, and gossip, those are also prohibited. Because Emperor Wenchan says: Heaven will often bless those who do good deeds and silently cultivate morals. Yu has been doing this for many years, but he failed the official exams of 7 subjects in a row.
With no hope of being eligible for an official, he had no choice but to make a living as a teacher. He was still poor in his 40s. Even more miserable is that he ever had 5 sons, 4 of whom died. In addition, he had 4 daughters, of which only one was survived. The 3rd son was born with 2 distinctive moles on the bottom of his left foot. He was cute and smart, and was loved by his parents. But he suddenly disappeared when he was 8 years old.

Due to one disaster coming after another, his wife was so sad that she cried her eyes blind. He reflected that he had done nothing wrong. Why does Heaven punish me so severely? Why doesn’t Heaven bless me?
Every year on Lunar New Year's Eve, Yu wrote a letter asking the Kitchen God in his house to deliver it to the Jade Emperor. Over the years, however, he received no inspiration.
Until the New Year's Eve when he was 47 years old, he sat sadly with his wife and daughter, looking at each other desolately. Looking around, there was nothing in the house, and it was all deserted.
Suddenly, somebody was knocking the door. Opening the door, he saw a man in a scarf and a black robe, about 60. He greeted Yu politely. My last name is Zhang. I'm on my way home from a faraway place. When passing your door, I heard sounds of sadness and sighs. Therefore, I am here to offer you my most sincere regards.
Um, I am now in poverty and distress. Why would anyone come to offer regards? Especially today is the Eve of Lunar New Year. It's time for family reunion. Why would anyone have time to stop by and say hello?
Yu saw that his appearance and manner seemed extraordinary. Therefore, Yu respected him very much.

He told Mr. Zhang what had happened to him in his life.
I've been studying and teaching all my life, and I am not morally at fault. Why haven't I achieved anything yet? I cannot keep my wife and children safe. Many of my children died. We are short of food and clothing, and it is difficult to make ends meet.
Over the years, every New Year's Eve I've burned a letter in front of the Kitchen God. I still remember what I wrote in the letter, let me tell you about it. You don't need to tell me. I know your family's situation very well.
Your letters burnt to the Kitchen God are all filled with blaming words. You have too many bad ideas. You are not good in so many ways. You just act speciously and never repent. You sacrilege the Supreme Being like this. I'm afraid the Supreme Being's punishment for you is more than this. There might be more disasters to come.
I heard that ghosts and gods are monitoring us secretly. Even a trivial thing, whether good or bad, they know it.
Over the years, I founded the Wenchan Club with classmates and vowed to do benevolence. Is it only a fake reputations? The rules of Wenchan Club is like precepts. Everyone must abide by, and I abide by it too. I didn't violate it. Are these all fake reputations?
In the content of your rules, you must value culture and cherish writing paper. Now that you have these rules, you have to follow them. But instead of cherishing them, you tape the windows with old books and writing paper. When you saw others taping windows or wrapping things with old books and writing paper, you never give them advice or stop them even once.
It's only when you come across writing paper on the road that you pick it up and incinerate it. Aren't you doing this just to show off? Aren’t these false reputations? If others release lives, you will follow. If other don't release lives, you won't do it. Are you really kindhearted? Do you really want to release lives?
6:00
Only seeing others doing it, you happily praise their merits. If not seeing it, you don't care. You have to give it your all. If you don't give it your all, you didn't abide by it. You're out there flaunting you're a kind person, but in reality you're not. There are still the food like shrimp and crabs in your kitchen.
