So worshiping buddha is really good. Layman Ker Teinshou is here. He is from Zhanghua. Look at him, he can be a witness. Many of you may know him. I just knew him for months. When he took bodhisattva precept at Gushan Temple, someone introduced him to me at Yuanlin Lotus Society.
When he came to me, he was hunched over and holding a cane. I was sitting in the guest room, he came to me and prostrated himself.
“Master, please help me.” Why do you call for help? He stretched out his legs to show me. His legs were so swollen that they were crooked.

“I have sought treatment for gout from both traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine throughout the province,” he said, “but to no effect. It's like watering stones. Eating those drugs was like watering the stone, which is all in vain.”
I took a look and said, Ok, go upstairs to the grand hall. He was leaning on a cane, lame and hunchbacked, with a yellow face. I gave him blessing and invited him to the 2nd floor. After sitting, I asked him.
He looks like a countryman. To put it bluntly, he's a bumpkin. In fact, he is wise.

I saw him a countryman. So I asked him where he lived? He said he lived in Zhanghua. Do you have a house? Yes. Are you well off? Yea. Since you have a house and the financial means, you should build a decent Buddhist hall. Therefore, it's crucial that we Buddhists should build a Buddhist hall, the more solemn the better. Many non-Buddhist people would build a deity hall in the outermost room on the top floor when building a house. People usually spend most of the money on the living room and master bedroom. Some even spend millions on lavish decoration.
Now I advise people to build Buddhist hall. How will he do?

You will not retrieve this money. If you build a Buddha hall on the top level, the bigger the better. Build it magnificent. It doesn't matter even if you spend a million. Build the living room and bedroom casually. Thus, you can retrieve it soon, I am not lying to you. Building a solemn Buddhist hall indicates your respect for the Buddha. If you have the financial resources and are willing to build a Buddhist hall, I will show you. More than 30 lay Buddhists in Yuanlin have a magnificent Buddhist hall. Then I showed him around. Afterwards, he felt delighted. After you set up the Buddha hall, I will sprinkle blessing water for you, I said.

I taught him to invite lotus, incense burners, and the Three Saints of the West. Afterwards, you have to worship the Buddha 300 times per day, and then come to me three months later.
After hearing my advice, he went back and built the Buddhist hall, and then desperately worshiped the Buddha. One day, he came to me delightedly without a cane or a hunchback. On seeing me, he said: Master, I am fully recovered.
I told you to worship for 3 months. Is three months really that fast?
No, I recovered after worshiping for a month and a half.
