With Master SengGuang, Master HuiLan, etc., they followed Master HuiYung to learn the dharma. Although SengGuang and HuiLan were not as good at studying Buddhism as HuiGang was. However, they concentrated on being mindful of the Land of Bliss more devoutly and sincerely than HuiGong. So, there is no knack for rebirth in the Land of Bliss. Be sincere, earnest, single-hearted, single-minded, absolutely immovable. Absolutely unaffected by anything.
Master HuiLan ever told HuiGong: “Although you study hard and are knowledgeable, Learning lots of dharma. However, don't you know that, Well, it's like deaf people playing music. Plays only for others, but he can't hear himself. Only please others, but he can't hear himself. Bank clerks count numerous cash for clients every day. But they can earn little money every month. So, the deaf people play music to please others. The bank clerks count cash which aren't their own money but others. It means that when it comes to practice, you can't just preach to others, but you don't actually have abilities.

At this moment, Master HuiGong could not listen anymore. Everyone has an attachment of self. On hearing that, Master HuiGong disagreed. How meritorious am I in preaching the dharma? He didn't believe Master HuiLan had said. In the later 7 years, Master HuiLan ect. were reborn one after another. When they were reborn, there were strong fragrance and inspiration. 5 years later, Master HuiGong got severe disease. When the end of his life was impending, he sighed and said: Alas, back then, I didn't take people's advice, only propagated dharma to benefit people and lecture sutras but that didn't work for myself. I just preached to others, but I have no real ability.
I didn't get benefit myself. I never worked hard to practice. Anyway, just preach to others. I persuade others, but I cannot persuade myself. The 6-realm reincarnation is too scary. Now I'm seriously sick. I'm afraid to fall in reincarnation. Until when will I not repeatedly submerge and emerge in reincarnation? I'll be born after death, and I'll die after birth. Not only that, but I have to be born as a human being in every life. If I were to be a pig or cow in next life, I would be slaughtered at people's will and become a cuisine on people's table.

You are a human in this life but didn't met proper causal conditions and will continue to reincarnate. You don't listen to the good intellectual. Some people have good roots and say: Master, every your word is true. I will follow your advice in my life. This is a person with good roots. But some say: “I wonder whether the words of Master HuiLu are true. What he said is just fantasy. They don't take my advice and wander around aimlessly. but ask me: What can I do?
Just wait. Otherwise, what can I do? Can I violently force him to believe in Buddhism? For those have good and deep roots,
preach dharma to make them liberated. For those have no causal condition, put palms together and make them delighted. Well, when Master HuiGong had got severe disease, only then did he know the horror of reincarnation, dead and alive, alive and dead. Where on earth will my soul go after I die? I should have a home. People brag when they are alive and strong: “ I don't believe ghostly things and absolutely don't believe reincarnation. These are ridiculous and are fabricated by religionists to scare people.” One said: “Master, can you ask Amitabha to show up for me? or I don't believe in Buddhism.

Master, can you ask ghosts to manifest for me? or I absolutely don't believe there are ghosts.” I told him: “You are not scientific at all. What you ask is problematic. How much can you see with your naked eyes? You can't even see through a wall. A piece of paper blind you, you can't see through it. You cannot see long waves such as infrared. You cannot see short waves such as ultraviolet. Not to mention ghost or buddha. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.” People are such they won't believe they didn't see. Later, when they are sick or dying, they begin to worry. Hence, Master HuiGong burst into tears and repented. In the past, people advised me to practice truthfully, which is as important as promoting the dharma. I only emphasized promoting the dharma but neglected practicing truthfully.
