Karma 2 - Rescue People From Drowning

I am talking about the karmic retribution after several generations. I will site a story in the Liao Fan 4 lessons. Once upon a time, a person was the teacher of the emperor, who had a high official post. Sometimes, children don't listen to the parents. What to do with it? Must let other people teach him. When parents educate their children, the children sometimes argue loudly with them. Let others teach, they will listen instead. He taught the emperor to study and acquired an official post as youth teacher. His name is Rong Young. So everyone respectfully called him Young Youth Teacher. His generations of ancestors ferried for others. The income of ferry was low, and they were in poverty.
Once, heavy rain poured down, and torrent rushed down from the mountain. The upstream villages were swept away. The ancient house was not as strong as now. In the past, it was either huts or the house made of bamboo, or made of mud. The flood deluged the houses. Some drowned and some fled. Because mountain torrent broke out, it's difficult to escape. Many people died.
Back then, what were those ferrymen doing? Because many things were washed away. Some picked clothes, others picked valuables. The ancestors of Rong Young, including his grandpa and great grandpa. They were ferrymen but didn't pick up things. They kept rescuing people to the shore.

They kept rescuing people to the shore. The other villagers mocked them. They were stupid. Everybody was picking things, but they were saving people. This was unconsciously accumulating merits. After a while, Rong Young's father was born. Their family's situation was gradually improving.
An immortal manifested into a Daoist priest. The practitioner of Daoism is a Daoist priest. There are rare Daoist priest in Taiwan. There are Daoist Priests, who leave home, in China. The Daoist priest told Rong's father: “Your father and grandpa, namely Rong Young's grandpa and great grandpa had done a lot of benefaction and unconsciously accumulated great merits. Therefore, our teacher said that we need to do good deeds quietly, without showing off. You need to move your ancestor's graveyard. The immortal instructed him where he should bury. “Later your descendants will become great officials. Then his father followed the priest's instruction and buried his father and grandpa in the new graveyard, which was the white rabbit cave.
After born, Rong Young studied hard and got the first place in the national exam at the age of 20 and achieve a very high official post. Who did he shelter? Even his grandpa and great grandpa were granted official status. Granted official status even after their death. There were such cases in the ancient time. Generations of Rong's descendants had received official posts too. That was karmic retribution.

The good got good rewards. The evil got bad rewards. This is cited in the Book of Change. Family doing good will have residual blessings. Family doing evil will have residual calamity.
Time is up. From the above story, we need to believe in karma. I wish that brothers and sisters with the same teacher. On seeing neighbors do misdeeds, we have to give them advice, tell them stories and let them repent. If I do something wrong, I will correct my mistakes. Everyone could makes mistakes, including me. If you know you've done something wrong, you must correct it.
It's said that when the immortals play the drums, they sometimes make mistakes, who don't take the wrong steps?
If knowing you've done misdeeds, you have to correct it. Otherwise, it is sad. We need to believe in karma. People will be rewarded whether they do good or bad deeds. This is the end of the topic. I will talk more about karma next time.
