Do Phật hiệu nên tâm thuỷ ngưng lặng. Bởi thế, kẻ thượng trí chẳng bằng kẻ hạ ngu, biến quá khéo thành vụng về lớn vậy!”

When people get older, they are suffering. Painful here and there. Have blurry eyesight, teeth fell out, physically weak. If you are old but strong and healthy, aging is not an issue. If one is aging, it has suffering itself, plus diseases, one will suffer more, very painful. We are in pain when we are sick. No matter what the disease is, you will feel in pain. Serious diseases with great suffering. Minor ailments with slight suffering.
Lately, the venerable Chin Kung, In February this year (2020), he announced that he was going to be reborn and summoned everybody to the buddha hall to chant buddha with him.
Later, those fellow practitioners at the Ultimate Bliss Temple in Tainan prayed to the Master to stay longer in the world, and the venerable master agreed to stay further. He is 94 years old this year. In February, at that time, I received a call from Tainan, saying the Venerable Monk was going to be reborn.

I hurried up to go to Tainan. They said they had kept the venerable monk. He won't be reborn and will keep living in the world. It has been more than 9 months. He is weak now and has no strength in his legs.
Last year in Paris, France, he got up at night to the bathroom and fell to the ground. His head was bruised and eyes were swollen. I wasn't noticed at that time. In the middle of June, the venerable monk urgently called me to Paris. When I got there and they told me, I realized. Originally, one person was on duty to take care of the venerable monk at night, later it became two people.
During this period after returned to Tainan. Recently, he got up to the bathroom at night and fell down again. His leg bone was cracked. He was sent to the Buddhist Dalin Tzu Chi General Hospital in Chiayi for treatment.

In addition, his lungs are a little inflamed. So I went to see him yesterday morning. Now he returns to the Temple. There is also a medical team in the temple, consisting of some practitioners, who are doctors and nurses. So I went to see the venerable monk. He is presenting us the dharma. What dharma is he presenting? Suffering of aging and illness. Isn't this the dharma he presents? Aging is suffering, illness is also suffering. He is presenting this dharma to us.
The purpose of presenting this Dharma is to awaken us. If we still don't wake up after seeing this, the presentation will be in vain. Therefore, to present this dharma is for us to wake up to the suffering of birth, aging, sickness and death. We should seek liberation after seeing the dharma of the Pure Land in this life and no more reincarnation. The venerable monk present this dharma to us with great compassion to remind us that each one of us will encounter.
Frankly, we just read in the sutra, The Buddha tells us that the worldly people strive for things that do not matter. What are the things that do not matter? Strive for those secular fame and interests. The Buddha said those do not matter. It's not easy you are reincarnated as a human. You don't desire liberation. but endeavor for vexatious matters, and commit crime, you are even more vexed(delusional).
6:00
All these are convincing us to wake up. You must have faith and seek for rebirth in the Pure Land. Once you are reborn in the Pure Land this life, it will be over. You will never suffer these pains anymore.
If one is aging but vigorous, longevity is not an issue, strong and long lived, just like Mr. Han, he is not weak. He is 98 now, even older than the venerable monk came here to open the door after 5 a.m. every morning. He's alone, no need company. He came here by himself, his mind is very clear. It's ok to be like him.
If you are old and sick, cannot eat or walk. Frankly speaking, as Pure Land practitioners, it is better to go to the Pure Land to change into a lotus incarnation that is infinite life without birth, aging, sickness, death.
In this world, no matter how healthy you are, you will die eventually. Even if you are born in the heaven with longevity, there will be an end. How is it comparable to the Bliss World? People in the Bliss World have an infinite lifespan. They are not comparable.
8:00
Therefore, the venerable monk show us the suffering of aging and sickness. I am also getting old and suffering from aging and ailment. My vision blurred, my teeth fell out. All fell out. I am not strong as when I was young.
So, when we see these phenomena that is the Buddha is speaking dharma. What dharma is he speaking? Suffering, emptiness, impermanence, no-self. We have no control over this body. You don't want it to get old, but it does; don't want it to get sick, but it does; don't want it to die, but it does. What can you do? This is no-self. One is always happy and pure in The Bliss World.
