Do Phật hiệu nên tâm thuỷ ngưng lặng. Bởi thế, kẻ thượng trí chẳng bằng kẻ hạ ngu, biến quá khéo thành vụng về lớn vậy!”

There is the fact that a blind woman, who used to do all sorts of evils, was able to be born in the West because of the enlightenment of a great master.
It happened in 1950, when the leader of the preceptor class went to Hsinchu to visit his relatives and unexpectedly fell ill in a place far away. The deputy leader and I went to see him together. That afternoon we arrived at Lingyin Temple to spend the night.
The Supreme Master is the one I took refuge in early in my life. After dinner, we struck up a conversation. I asked, "Master, you have been a monk for many years. Have you ever seen anyone really born in the West?"
Master said quickly: “Yes, I did. I have seen two people who actually were reborn and performed miracles at the end of their lives. Once, when I was in retreat at the Vajra Cave, there was an old nun in her seventies, and she was blind.”
Back then, her body became swollen due to illness, she came to the cave crying, saying she was going to die and asked me to save her from suffering.
I had no choice but to leave seclusion and return to the temple. I saw that her hut was full of feces and urine, it was dirty and stinky.
Then she spoke loudly and sadly that there were a dozen ghosts beating her day and night. She also called out the names of her enemies.
Once, a lay relative of hers came, and Master asked, "Do you know the names your sister-in-law screamed out?"
She said, "Yes, I know. She harmed those people to death when she was young."
No wonder she was badly beaten by the wronged ghosts, and her body was swollen, skinned and bloodied.
Although Master was a Chan student, there was nothing he could do at this point.
Then, he came up with an expedience and called her name, "Puji, you have to chant Amitabha Buddha to seek for rebirth in the West so that you are able to free from suffering and have joy.”
At that time, Puji replied: "It's all dark and I don't know how to chant."
Master said: "I will chant a phrase of Amitabha, and you repeat it after me."
P 6.
She literally chanted along with every word the master chanted. After half an hour or so, Puji suddenly smiled and said: "All is bright now. Those dozen no-easy-death wronged souls are standing there laughing!"
In an instant, the wronged souls spoke through Puji's mouth: "Thank you Master for your mercy. The evil blind old woman who committed a heinous crime finally ferried a dozen of us from suffering today."
The master immediately replied, "That's right. We would resolve injustice rather than settle enmity.
You must also chant Amitabha and carry your karma to be born in the Bliss World, and only then will you be free from the great suffering of birth and death."
Master asked Puji again and said: "You must chant Amitabha calmly, chant it with me once more."
After chanting for another one hour, Puji spoke again:
"Master, the sky is full of light now. There are some people in the clouds wearing white clothes and holding white flags who want to receive me to the Western Bliss World." At this time, she put his hands together, smiling toward the sky, and passed away peacefully.
From then on, a mortal who was full of sins and karma escaped from the Saha sea of suffering, took her karma and was reborn in the lotus state to be free and at ease.
The Supreme Master said: "Usually, this old woman spoke lots of evil words, had a bad rapport with the public and cursed people all day long.
Look, when she was dying, she still cursed those wronged souls as a group of people with no-easy-death, but then she laughed.
The most marvelous thing is that when she was going to the West, her swollen, bleeding and pus-filled body was instantly replaced with a clean one, without odor at all. It's an incredible auspicious sign."
After hearing this fact from the Master, I gained a lot of confidence in the cultivation of pure karma, so I was overjoyed. Master also told us another story about rebirth, but I dare not to write it down because I could not remember it clearly.
For countless eons, sentient beings have created all kinds of bad karma, constantly rising and falling in the six realms. The reason why they cannot escape from it is due to karmic hindrances. When the cause meet the proper circumstance, some will repay kindness or repay grudge, some will collect debts or give back debts, and they will be entangled for many lives.
To resolve grudges and untie knots, there is no other way except being mindful of the Buddha.
