Do Phật hiệu nên tâm thuỷ ngưng lặng. Bởi thế, kẻ thượng trí chẳng bằng kẻ hạ ngu, biến quá khéo thành vụng về lớn vậy!”

The body is the root of all suffering, so it is not worth cherishing. However, the body as a vehicle for carrying the bodhi must also be cherished. This phrase is how the ancient masters describe our human body as a body of karmic retribution for the accumulation of sins and evils. How precious is it to live in this world for only a few decades?
If you want to liberate yourself, you must borrow falsehoods to cultivate the truth. Whether you are mindful of Buddha, practice dharma, or worship Buddha, you have to make use of this body.
When you encounter disasters and hardships, you can recite the Buddha's name and save yourself. If you don't believe me, here is an example:
It was the regular double-study sermon of the Lotus Society on Sunday at 3 pm. After we finished the lecture and recited the Verse of Transference at 5 pm, suddenly, a new listener stood up and said, "My family lives in Cooperative New Village, and my husband's surname is Huang.
Now I am going to report my personal inspiration experience to everyone, to thank Amitabha Buddha and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva for their kindness.
In February 1965, when I was traveling in Taipei, I met a man who carried a load of turtles on the street and asked me if I wanted to buy turtles. I said to him, "I'm a traveler, why do I buy a turtle for?"
After I stayed in Taipei for two days, I returned to Taichung the next day, and I happened to meet the turtle seller in Taipei again at the first market. When he saw me, he yelled, "Ma'am, you said you were out of town in Taipei. Now that you're home, you should buy it." Then I spent 50 dollars to buy four turtles and brought them home to my daughter-in-law, asking her to raise them in the open space behind. She fed them veggies and rice everyday.
One day when I was not at home, my daughter-in-law caught a turtle and killed it. My 15-year-old daughter saw it, and shrank her hands backward in fear and said to it: 'Turtle! My hands are bound by somebody, so I can't save you.'
When I came home and saw a turtle being killed, I scolded my daughter-in-law and said, 'Turtles are to be released, not for you to kill and eat.'
That night I dreamed that a person said to her: "Your disaster is coming." When I woke up, I felt anxious. My youngest daughter was 15 years old three years ago and was studying in junior high school.
After seeing the turtle killed, three days later, when she was riding a bicycle to school, she was hit by a motor tricycle carrying pigs on the road.
When the driver saw the girl falling on the roadside with her bike, she shouted 'Amitabha' three times. A lot of white foam came out of her mouth, blood came out of her ears, and she fell into a coma instantly. Fortunately, the driver immediately picked her up and took a taxi to Chongbin Surgical Hospital. The doctor said: 'The skull is already bleeding, so I dare not admit her to the hospital.'
The driver then sent her to Li Surgical Hospital. Dr. Li also said that the injury was serious, her head was broken and bleeding, and she was unconscious. You should send her to the provincial hospital as soon as possible! The driver then sent her to the surgery department of the provincial hospital. The driver begged the doctor and said:
"Someone in this lady's family must believe in Buddhism. When the two vehicles collided, she shouted Amitabha 3 times in a row.' Then white foam came out of her mouth, and she passed out instantly. Please give her an injection and rescue her as soon as possible!" When my daughter was in the hospital for emergency treatment, fortunately, a clerk working at a rice store recognized her. So she ran to my home and told me about the car accident. My husband and I went to the hospital to take care of her immediately.
At this time, my little girl was dying, and the blood was still flowing out of her ears. ack then, we as parents, seeing her in such a miserable state, did not dare to think that she would recover.
Doctors did not ensure that there was no danger to life, and all relatives and friends who came to express their condolences said it seemed more ominous than auspicious. Until the sixth day of admission, she was still in critical condition without any sign of improvement. But it was so incredible that a miracle happened!
On that sixth night, while I was half awake and half asleep, I saw a Bodhisattva with a solemn appearance come to me and say: 'I am Ksitigarbha (Earth Store) Bodhisattva, I am here to inform you: Your daughter has good roots. She is now with the Buddha and will be back tomorrow. She will recover sooner than the other patients in the ward, and she will be discharged tomorrow and be healthy and safe in the future.'
