Do Phật hiệu nên tâm thuỷ ngưng lặng. Bởi thế, kẻ thượng trí chẳng bằng kẻ hạ ngu, biến quá khéo thành vụng về lớn vậy!”

(English subtitles) Buddhist Master Chin-Kung (淨空法師), 1927-2022, talks dharma.
Subtitles:
The master often cites the example of Master Yingke who successfully recited the Buddha's name for three days. Some people think that as long as they recite the Buddha's name, they don't need to bear family and social responsibilities. Everything is arranged by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Will this cause the general public to misunderstand Buddhist practitioners?
Yes, it's a misunderstand. You may try to see if you can be reborn after three days of recitation? You cannot be reborn, unless you commit suicide. How can you be reborn?
For those who are mindful of the Buddha and go to rebirth, the prerequisite is the foundation of the three blessings of pure karma: Be filial to and take care of your parents, serve your teachers and elders, be kind and never kill, practice the 10 good deeds. In order to evade social and family responsibilities, you go to the Land of Bliss to fool around . How can there be such a reason? You regard the Buddha in the Land of Bliss as a muddle-head. You are sinful. His wisdom, divine powers, and virtues are higher than anyone else. He sees you through, you are not a good person. You went to the Land of Bliss and destroyed its environment, why would the Land of Bliss want a person like you?
Therefore, you must know that you need to develop a great bodhicitta before you go to the Land of Bliss, and you are not going there to enjoy yourself but to accomplish your studies.
You eliminate vexations and attained Bodhi there. After having achievement, you'll go to other worlds to deliver sentient beings from suffering. This kind of vow is the only way you can go.

If you want to go out to enjoy happiness, it is too bitter here, and you can escape completely. This kind of mentality is totally incompatible with the Land of Bliss. You must know this.
You live in this life, which stems from karma, karma is created by yourself, and you must bear it in this life.
When Amitabha comes to receive you, it means that your karma has been fulfilled, and the skill of being mindful of the Buddha is mature, and the Buddha comes to receive you.
It can be advanced even when your karma is not fulfilled, but it must be that you have a great bodhicitta, courageous and diligent, and it is definitely not an evasion of responsibility. It is definitely not this, and this is not a reason.
But there is a special reason, you go there, achieve success and return earlier to liberate sentient beings, you must made this compassionate vow. If it were not for this kind of compassionate vow, there would be no way to commune with Buddhas. This is one thing you need to figure out and understand, so that your skill of being mindful of Buddha can be accomplished. So the criterion is great moral. The sutra make it very clear that in the Land of Bliss, "Many great people gather in one place." Are you a person with great moral?
Why tell you to implement the rules of discipleship and the ten good deeds? You must be a great person. Why I tell you to implement the rules of discipleship(DiZiGui) and the 10 good deeds? You must be a great person.

Even if you are not great, you have to be good at least. Then you can go. When you go there, you can get along with the masses, and the masses will welcome you. If you are not a good person, Amitabha will not welcome you. Even if you go, the public will reject you. You can’t live in that Buddhist country. You have to know that.
