Amitabha Gossip 阿弥陀佛饶舌

In Song Dynasty, King Qianshu asked Master Yongming, Is there any
prominent monk currently? I will make offering to him. Master Yongming said: Yes. The monk was walking on the road, wearing coarse cloth clothes and has long ears. He is the returned Definite Light Buddha. Excellent, the king prepared a vegetarian dinner and invited the long-ear monk. They asked the long-eared monk to take a grand seat. The long-eared monk was wondering, People usually avoid me and ignore me. Why are you respectful to me today? King Qianshu fell on his knee, bowed down and said, Master Yongming said that you are the returned Definite Light Buddha, please accept my worship and offerings. On hearing that, the long-eared monk said, Amitabha gossip. After the words, he was incarnated while sitting.

The King was astonished and said, He was really incarnated from a Buddha. When I made offering, he incarnated immediately while sitting. Why do I have such thin blessing? Later he rethought what the monk said before his reincarnation, Amitabha gossip. This was what Master Yongming told me, Isn't Master Yongming Amitabha? So that he knew this and told me. Then he rushed to the temple to worship Master Yongming. To his surprise, Master Yongming has incarnated in sitting position too. Hence, secular people are usually unable to recognize saints. So, Master Yinguang taught us to view all people as bodhisattva. You must respect them no matter what status they might be manifested. He may be trying to get you on the right track.
