講義：
《四教儀註彙補輔宏記》卷五：禪門明非理瞋發者，行人若修定時，嗔覺歘起，無問是非，他犯不犯，無事而嗔，是為違理邪嗔發相。
修眾生緣慈者，觀一切眾生，如父母親想。《智論》明生緣慈者，十方五道眾生，以一慈心視之，如父母、兄弟、子姪、知識，常求好事，欲令利益安樂，如是慈，名眾生緣。多在凡夫行，或學人未漏盡者。
《四教儀註彙補輔宏記》卷五：《四教儀集註》云：若法界次第。則具明慈悲喜捨四無量心。
《法界次第初門》卷一：次四禪而辨四無量心者，四禪但是自證禪定功德，而未有利他之功。故樂大功德者，當憐愍一切眾生，修慈悲喜捨四無量定。此四通名無量心者，從境以得名；以所緣眾生無量故，能緣之心，亦隨境無量，故悉受無量心名。
一慈無量心：能與他樂之心，名之為慈。若行者於禪定中，念眾生令得樂時，心數法中生定，名為慈定，是慈相應心。無瞋無恨、無怨無惱，善修得解，廣大無量，遍滿十方，名慈無量心。
二悲無量心：能拔他苦之心，名之為悲。若行者於禪定中，念受苦眾生令得解脫時，心數法中生定，名為悲定，是悲相應心。無瞋無恨、無怨無惱，善修得解，廣大無量遍滿十方，是為悲無量心也。
