Om Mani Padme Hum Meaning & it’s Secrets
Many people consider “Om Mani Padme Hum” as the most powerful and all-encompassing Buddhist/Buddha Chant for mantra meditation. There are a lot of different meanings and different opinions on what each syllable means. Generally, each syllable represents one of the six goals of Buddhist existence and helps heal or purify and bring forth the positive qualities associated with that goal.

Let’s take a look at the meaning of each word in the mantra:
• Om meaning: the vibration or sound of the universe; represents divine energy and generosity and purifies the ego
• Ma meaning: represents ethics and purifies jealousy
• Ni meaning: represents patience and purifies want or desire
• Pad meaning: represents diligence and purifies ignorance and judgment
• Me meaning: represents concentration and purifies attachment
• Hum meaning: the unity of all; represents wisdom and purifies hatred

Why do Non-Buddhists chant Om Mani Padme Hum ( 嗡 瑪尼唄美 吽 ) too?

六字大明咒 - 嗡瑪尼唄美吽 之意思:

1. 六字大明咒之功德 : 一降魔﹐二治病﹐三免劫﹐四各種成就﹐五去障﹐六登佛位﹐即得定開慧是也。

2. 六字大明咒雖只六個字﹐而光大圓明﹐妙用無盡﹐故名六字大明咒。

3. 六字大明咒即觀自在菩薩微妙本心﹐昔菩薩自己持此咒印而成佛﹐曰正法明如來。此如來以應身而來娑婆﹐顯菩薩身﹐助世尊行化。菩薩以大慈悲愿力﹐接引眾生﹐由極苦升 極樂。慈愛如母﹐表相為四臂觀音。凡菩薩所化身﹐若綠度母﹐若白傘蓋﹐若準提佛母﹐若不空絹索等。化身無量﹐咒亦無量﹐統可名之曰大悲咒﹐以無一不由大悲 如意輪中出也。

4. 嗡瑪尼唄美吽 此六字﹐又為一切咒之心﹐故又名大悲心咒﹐為大乘中最上精純。且只六字﹐便於持誦。而持誦之人﹐無貧賤男女之分﹐皆可使七代祖先﹐超升解脫。

讀【大乘莊嚴寶 王經】﹐可明此咒功德。凡持咒而結印者﹐功力百倍。﹐得定病癒﹐尤非手印不可。念此六字﹐即能斷輪迴﹐出三界﹐證聖果﹐此六凡之表法也。

*「嗡」字由菩提 心發生﹐初入十信位﹐由是增進。
*「嘛/ 瑪」字入十住位﹐
*「呢/ 尼」字入十行位。
*「叭」字入行迴向位﹐
*「德美/ 唄美」字入十地位。
*「吽」字入金剛定至大覺位。

故念六字大明咒即能立超十地﹐成無上正等正覺。此四聖之表法也。

建議以慈悲心、至誠心、專注受持六字大明咒， 讓十方受苦眾生以此善因緣得離無明煩惱苦海，證入諸佛之常樂我淨境界，獲福德功德法喜法樂無量。
