【Tolerate What You Can't Tolerate. Overcome What You Can't Get Over. Then the Obstruction of Karma will be Eliminated.】/Master Hai Tao
Transforming the mind of delusion to the mind of purity is the essence of Buddhism. For example, if you discipline your body to stick with no killing, no stealing, and no sexual practices in order to observe The Eight Precepts, then the body will become the merits of your parents and become the facilitation to lift sentient beings up to heaven.
Just like what I said in the morning, encountering a person observing the precepts, the deities will come worshipping the dirt of the path where the person has walked past. Thus, if the wondrous Buddha Dharma could be profoundly understood, we could convert everything. As a result, to be angry or not to be angry, that is the decision you've got to made by yourself.
However, if losing your temper, you will turn good things to bad ones, the merits will be burn out, you won't be good looking in the future, etc. On the contrary, while dealing with all kinds of situations, you stay calm without getting carried away, and your sensuality stays tranquilized no matter what. Not only do you eliminate karmic obstruction, but also others can be liberated. What's more, the merits could be helpful to others.
Just like your observing The Eight Precepts today, the way you restrain yourself from indulging and generate the compassionate and merciful mind will make yourself reborn in heaven for seven lives and become an emperor for another seven lives. You'll gain all kinds of merits, stay away from illness, eliminate the karmic obstruction, and break away from The Three Lower Realms forever. Furthermore, you'll be lifted up to heaven, be reborn in Pure Land, and accomplish Buddhahood.
Destiny can be changed within one day, but then again, the greater the merits you accumulate, the more karma obstruction you have to deal with because thoughts arise all the time. Once there was a guy saying: "Master, I live a peaceful and tranquil life daily, but while observing the Eight Precepts, I can't sleep, and I think of women all night long." I said, "That's because you've got great merits, so you'd better be diligent and earnest. If you don't observe The Eight Precepts, nothing will happen. Now you know that your karmic obstruction has emerged. If you could overcome the difficulties and obstacles, it won't happen again." It's like massage and acupuncture. The points that make you hurt are exactly the places needed to get pressed and positioned. Through all the practices could you turn the corner.
Therefore, before cultivating, you've got nothing special to do as usual, sitting there with nothing noisy around and feeling tranquil and peaceful. However, when you intend to recite the sutras, all kinds of sounds start clanging and jangling, and you wonder "how could this happen?" The truth is that you are on your way to the journey of cultivation. Therefore, while sitting at home daily, you feel cozy, but while meditating, you have a sore waist and an aching back. Moreover, you are generally full of energy, but doze off while meditating. In fact, on the one hand it helps eliminate karmic obstruction; on the other hand it helps accumulate merits.
