Nguyện 18 trong 48 Đại Nguyện của Phật A Di Đà :
Nếu con được thành Phật, mà chúng sanh trong mười phương dốc lòng tin tưởng, muốn sanh về cõi nước con chỉ trong mười niệm, nếu không được toại nguyện, thì con chẳng trụ ở Ngôi Chánh Giác, trừ kẻ phạm năm tội nghịch và gièm chê Chánh Pháp.

Lời Khuyên Tịnh Độ (Ấn Quang Đại Sư)
“ Ấn Quang từ Tây qua Ðông, từ Bắc xuống Nam, qua lại hơn vạn dặm, gặp gỡ nhiều người. Trong số đó, lắm kẻ bình nhật tự vỗ ngực là bậc thông Tông, thông Giáo, coi Tịnh Ðộ như uế vật, chỉ sợ nó làm bẩn lây đến mình. Lúc lâm chung, đa số chân loạn tay cuống, kêu cha gào mẹ. Trong số ấy, có những người trì giới niệm Phật già giặn, chắc thật, dù Tín Nguyện chưa đến mức cùng cực, tướng lành chẳng hiện, nhưng đều an nhiên mạng chung. Vì sao như vậy? Là vì tâm thuỷ trong lặng, do phân biệt nên xao động, đục ngầu, sóng thức trào dâng. Do Phật hiệu nên tâm thuỷ ngưng lặng. Bởi thế, kẻ thượng trí chẳng bằng kẻ hạ ngu, biến quá khéo thành vụng về lớn vậy!”

This wonderful anime, with English subtitles, presents 'The Contemplation Sutra on Infinite Life'. It is the teaching that strongly exhorts all ordinary foolish persons, incapable of performing difficult practices, to simply say the Buddha's Name (Nembutsu - 念 佛). This is the easy path that assures their birth in The land of Peace and Happiness.
Explicitly, the Sutra tells us about the extremely hard practices of precept, concentration and wisdom, that superior disciples have to perform, in order to see Amida's Pure Land. These are arduous, self-power practices impossible to be accomplished, by the vast majority of lowly gifted, pathetic persons, like ourselves.
The aim of the Contemplation Sutra is therefore, to direct all suffering beings to finally entrust themselves fully in Amitabha's Primal Vow (the 18th Vow), as taught in The Larger Sutra on Infinite Life, that guarantees their salvation. To deliver The Larger Sutra, the true teaching of the Pure Land Path, is the real reason for Shakyamuni Buddha's fortunate appearance in our world.

Venerable Master Shinran, the Founder of Jodo Shinshu explained, that by single-mindedly entrusting themselves to this Vow of Great Compassion, even ignorant, lowly gifted followers like ourselves, are absolutely assured of birth in Amitabha's Fulfilled Land, while we are still living out our wretched lives in this vicious cycle of birth , suffering and death.
