Before I became a nun, I worked in a hospital in Hong Kong. The first thing I do when I get to work is to measure the blood pressure of all patients.
One afternoon in 2017, around 3:00 pm, when I was measuring the blood pressure of the patient in bed number 5 in room 12, I found that she was taking a nap. I was afraid of scaring her, so I called the patient's name in a low voice at first: "So-and-so, let me measure your blood pressure now."
p.2
But she didn't respond, so I raised the volume. Seeing that she still didn't respond, I instinctively shouted, "Namo Amitabha!" and gently pushed her arm. At this moment, the patient suddenly woke up in a state of shock and said loudly: "Finally I don't have to be reincarnated as a pig!" At that time, her eyes were wide open and she looked extremely frightened.
I have chatted with her and learned that she is over 80 years old and is a Buddhist. She goes to the temple from time to time to do some good deeds or participate in Dharma assemblies,

but she is not a person who specializes in bearing Buddha in mind and does not understand the benefits of doing so. Seeing her so frightened, I told her not to be afraid and to put her hands together and recite "Namo Amitabha" devoutly.
Since there were eight patients in the ward, in order to avoid disturbing others, I asked her to speak more quietly so that she could hear only herself. She was very obedient. She clasped her hands together and chanted "Namo Amitabha, Namo Amitabha, Namo Amitabha..." one sentence at a time with piety and gratitude despite her fear.
p.4
Because I was still busy with work, I left Room 12. The next day, I went to Room 12 again to measure the patients' blood pressure. Seeing that her blood pressure had returned to normal, I asked her, "What happened to you yesterday?"
Thinking of what happened yesterday, she still had a horrified expression on her face as she said, "The judge in the underworld wanted me to be reincarnated as a pig. I refused no matter what, but several people forced me to be reincarnated as a pig. At this moment, I suddenly heard a man's chanting: Namo Amitabha.”
p.5
After hearing this Buddhist name, I suddenly escaped from the underworld and returned to the human world. But I couldn't see anything at that time. I just heard a man telling me to put my hands together and chant Buddha devoutly. I kept chanting until about six o'clock in the evening, when my eyes slowly began to see things."
At this time, the patient in bed number six next to her immediately rushed to say, "Yesterday it was this girl (a local respectful title for female medical staff) who asked you to put your hands together and chant the Buddha devoutly."
p.6
The patient in bed number five continued, "I couldn't see anything at the time. It was pitch black in front of my eyes. I only heard a man saying, 'Put your hands together and chant the Buddha sincerely. Don't be afraid.'" When she knew that I had asked her to chant the Buddha, she said with great gratitude, "Thank you, girl!" I said, "Don't thank me, you should thank Amitabha. Amitabha saves all sentient beings unconditionally. It is Amitabha who saved you so that you don't have to be reborn as a pig.
p.7
You should chant the Buddha more often in the future. As long as you bear the Buddha in mind sincerely, it is the best way to express gratitude. In the future, you can also persuade more people with affinity to chant the Buddha, and dedicate all the merits of this great name with infinite virtues to all sentient beings who have affinity with you, so that they can all be free from suffering and attain happiness."
After this personal experience, I deeply realized that even if a person has not yet died, his spirit may have already gone to the underworld to be judged.
p.8
The underworld is real. Meanwhile, I'm even more convinced that Amitabha’s salvation is real. Amitabha’s light shines everywhere in the universe and embraces all sentient beings who recite the Buddha, never letting them go. This is absolutely true.
I also pray: May all sentient beings bear the Buddha in mind, be happily reborn in the Bliss World, cease the cycle of reincarnation in the six realms, and vow to become citizens of the Bliss World." Namo Amitabha.
